I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy and coordinator of the Health Humanities Minor at Salisbury University. Although my background is in ethics, my research on empathy, interpersonal understanding, and appreciation has led to wide-ranging interests in and outside of philosophy such as epistemology, aesthetics, philosophy of mind, education, psychology, and disability studies. My interests in health-related issues also contributed to course offerings that are still quite unconventional in the discipline, including Philosophy of Disability, Philosophical Perspectives on Mental Health, and most recently, Philosophy of the Body. My role in leading the creation and development of the Health Humanities Minor means that I regularly collaborate with faculty from other departments such as Communication, Psychology, and Nursing on health education and social/ethical issues in healthcare. I see lots of potential in getting more SU faculty and students involved with local organizations like LSAC.
