Outreach Worker

Most recently, I gained nearly six years of experience as the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator at a large local nonprofit, where I specialized in connecting senior citizens to resources and services that help them live as independently as possible for as long as possible. My key responsibilities included designing and implementing the organization’s marketing and outreach plans. This included maintaining all content on our website, attending outreach events, developing all marketing materials for all 30+ available programs, creating all direct mailing content, and managing our social media channels. I also oversaw all special event planning and management, including all fundraising events, sponsorship requests, and all donor relations. Donor relations involved maintaining relationships with our pool of over 600 small and large donors. The accuracy of communication and marketing materials was imperative to the success of this position. All brochures, flyers, email blasts, newsletters, blog posts, and newspaper articles were primarily designed and developed by me, and all materials and content were submitted to me for final approval.
I also ensured it adhered to our branding guidelines. Since the organization dealt primarily with seniors and relied heavily on community partnerships for several of its programs, I had to work closely with marketing departments from numerous state and local funders, local health care centers, and hospitals to make sure their branding was also accurate and up to their standards on any marketing efforts that required collaboration.
In addition to serving in my role as Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, I collaborated with our organization’s administrative staff on both the Leadership Committee and the Grants Committee. Both groups engaged in strategic planning and implementation for all 30+ senior resource programs offered to local communities.
Currently, I am an “on-call” adjunct professor of Health and Human Performance at Salisbury University. When I am needed to teach classes, I am responsible for designing and implementing key performance indicator-driven curricula to both graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the program. In addition to these responsibilities, I have also been a self-employed freelance writer since 2010.
